How do I know if therapy with you is a good fit?

A good fit often comes down to whether you feel safe enough, comfortable enough, and understood enough to begin. You do not need to know that with certainty before reaching out. A 20-minute consultation gives us space to talk about what you are looking for, ask questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels supportive.

What kinds of concerns do you support?

I work with adults, youth, children, and families across a range of concerns, including trauma, complex trauma, anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, grief, identity questions, dissociation, relationship changes, life transitions, emotional regulation, and family stress. I also offer support for first responders, military members, veterans, and those impacted by war or displacement. As well as clinical consultation for counsellors and helping professionals.

Do I have to do nature therapy?

No. Nature therapy is one option, not a requirement. Sessions are available outdoors, or virtually. I do work with a clinic to offer in-office options. We can talk together about what setting feels most supportive, accessible, and manageable for you.

What is nature therapy, exactly?

Nature therapy is simply therapy that happens outdoors in an intentional, supportive way. It is not wilderness therapy, extreme exercise, or anything that requires you to be outdoorsy. For some people, being outside creates a little more space to breathe, move, and settle. For others, indoor or virtual sessions feel like the better fit. All options are welcome here.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. Virtual sessions are available across BC. For many people, virtual therapy offers flexibility, accessibility, and comfort. We can decide together whether outdoor, or virtual sessions make the most sense for your needs.

Where do sessions take place?

Outdoor sessions are offered in Williams Park, Langley. Indoor sessions are available through another clinic in Fort Langley. Virtual sessions are available across BC. If you are hoping for an outdoor location other than Williams Park, we can explore options together. Fees may adjust if travel or additional accommodations are needed.

What ages do you work with?

I work with many ages; adults, youth, children, and families. My approach is adapted to the person or family in front of me. With children and youth, this often means more room for movement, creativity, play, and sensory support.

What happens in a first session?

The first session is a chance to begin getting to know each other and to talk about what is bringing you in. We may explore what support you are looking for, what feels difficult right now, and what pace or setting feels most supportive. You do not need to arrive with a polished story or a clear plan. We begin where you are.

What if I am not sure where to start?

That is completely okay. "I’m not sure where to start" is a perfectly good place to begin. You do not need to have the right words ready before reaching out or before a first session. Part of the work is making space for what may feel unclear, tangled, or hard to name.

How often do people usually come to therapy?

That depends on your needs, capacity, and what kind of support feels realistic and helpful. Some people come weekly, some biweekly, and some less often. We can talk together about what rhythm feels supportive rather than overwhelming.

How will I know if therapy is working?

Progress is not always dramatic or immediate. Often it shows up through subtle shifts: a little more clarity, a little more steadiness, a little more space to respond differently, or a little less pressure to carry everything alone. Therapy can also involve periods that feel messy, slow, or uncertain. That does not necessarily mean it is not working.

What if therapy does not feel helpful?

It is okay to say that. Therapy works best when there is room for honesty, feedback, and choice. If something is not feeling helpful, we can talk about it together and adjust. Sometimes that means shifting the pace, changing the approach, or exploring whether a different kind of support would be a better fit.

Do you only work with first responders?

No. While support for first responders, military members, veterans, and those impacted by war is an important part of my work, it is not the only focus of my practice. I also support adults, youth, children, and families across a wide range of concerns and life experiences.

Do you offer clinical consultation?

Yes. I offer clinical consultation for counsellors, and helping professionals seeking reflective, trauma-informed, grounded support. Consultation is available outdoors or virtually and can include case conceptualization, ethical questions, burnout, professional identity, nervous system awareness, and integrating somatic or nature approaches into practice.

What are your session fees?

Current rates are listed on the Services page. If you are unsure which service or session length fits best, we can talk through that during a consultation.

Do you accept insurance or extended benefits?

Direct billing is unavailable. Many extended health plans reimburse sessions with an RCC or CCC, though coverage varies by provider and plan. I am also a registered provider with FNHA and CVAP.

How do payment and receipts work?

Payment is due at the time of service. Receipts are provided after each session for insurance or tax purposes. Accepted payment methods include e-transfer, credit card, and cash.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask for notice whenever possible. This allows the time to be offered to someone else and helps support the sustainability of the practice. More than 48 hours’ notice: no fee 24-48 hours’ notice: half the session fee Less than 24 hours’ notice or missed appointments: full session fee. Emergencies, illness and unexpected circumstances can be discussed with care and discretion.

Is therapy confidential?

Confidentiality is an important part of therapy. What you share is kept private within the legal and ethical limits of counselling practice. Those limits, including situations involving safety concerns or legal requirements, are reviewed as part of informed consent.

Do I need to be ready before I start?

No. You do not need to feel fully ready, fully certain, or fully able to explain everything before starting. Curiosity is enough. We begin where you are.
